The Medical Fund gets urgent doctor's visits, medicines, and surgery within reach of families in the Philippines who would otherwise go without or go into debt.
Since Starfish Ministries began working in the Philippines in 2008, we've seen mothers with babies, toddlers, and elderly parents and relatives go without treatment they urgently need — surgery, medicines, radiology, a doctor's appointment — simply because they can't afford it. Our partner clinics run periodic outreach, but when a need is immediate, it can't wait months for the next visit. The Medical Fund exists to close that gap.
We would love you to partner with us in supporting our partners in the Philippines who are members of significantly poor families unable to afford medical attention. From infants to adults, there are families waiting to be given an opportunity to get medical help. PhilHealth is the local government health scheme and Filipinos are able to get free healthcare through this. However other costs such as prescriptions, medication, doctor’s visits, follow-up care, physiotherapy, clinical tests, specialists appointments, transportation are often not covered.
As a one off donation or a regular amount your gift may save lives or at the least provide valuable assistance. It will help to get them off the critical health waiting lists and prevent them from having to take out high interest loans.
How it works
From application to treatment in as little as 48 hours
A local church or ministry leader refers a need
Applicants are generally attending a Starfish-affiliated church or outreach — though other community needs are considered with the right recommendation.
A medical professional reviews the case where required
Where necessary our partner doctors assess the application and recommend a course of action, so support is grounded in medical need.
Funds are transmitted — no one waits on us
Once approved, funds are sent immediately, usually within 48 hours, up to $300 (10,000 PHP) per applicant, with extra support considered for certified additional treatment. Every recipient is prayed for, and reports back on their progress.
