Emergency Relief
When the storm passes our partners don't rebuild alone
From typhoon season to sudden market shocks, we work alongside our Filipino partners to keep them standing. When a typhoon, fire, or sudden hardship strikes, we respond fast and stay engaged long after.
The Philippines suffers from many regular natural disasters including earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and typhoons. Typhoons are powerful tropical storms, similar to cyclones in the South Pacific, that regularly strike the Philippines. Each year from around July to November, around 20 typhoons form in the region, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and flooding. These storms can damage homes, schools, and crops, and often disrupt daily life for families—especially those already facing hardship. For children, the impact can be especially tough: schools may close, families may be displaced, and access to food and clean water can become limited.
It's not just natural disasters. Pandemics, fuel and food price shocks, and periods of political instability all hit our partner families hard, and our humanitarian aid responds to those just as readily.
Despite these challenges, communities show remarkable resilience, coming together to rebuild and support one another. Our sponsorship program helps ensure children have stability and support even in the midst of these storms.
Our local coordinators at each partner church know every scholarship family personally, so when disaster strikes we already know who needs help and how to reach them. Emergency funds are sent directly to trusted partner church leaders — often within days — for food, temporary shelter, home repairs or whatever is the biggest need.
Rebuilding after losing everything to fire
When fire destroyed several families' homes near our AGAPE partner church in December 2025, funds for repairs and family aid were sent immediately. While some families work through longer-term issues with land, AGAPE has kept supporting them with food, clothing, and temporary shelter in the meantime — exactly the kind of steady, local support our partnership makes possible.
Help that arrived on top of an already hard year
In the middle of a school year already disrupted by COVID-19, a major typhoon swept across the Philippines. Supporters' donations let us respond to both crises at once — funding food for scholarship and church families when it was the biggest need, alongside continued education support.
