The Board of Starfish Ministries hold unanimously to the following principles.
1) We believe that God is the one and only God who is eternally living in three persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit equal in deity and glory.
Genesis 1:1; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14
2) We believe that Jesus Christ is the only Son of God. In the flesh He was both God and man. He was born of a virgin and He lived a sinless life, in which He taught and did mighty works, wonders and signs exactly as revealed in the four Gospels. He was crucified, died as a penalty for our sins, and was raised, bodily, from the dead on the third day. Later He ascended to the Father's right hand where He is head of the church and intercedes for believers and from where He is coming again personally, bodily, and visibly to this earth to reign as King of Kings.
Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5 & 14; John 17:4-5; Hebrews 4:14-15; Acts 1:9-11
3) We believe that the work of the Holy Spirit is - primarily to bring glory to the Lord Jesus Christ and also to convict mankind of their sin and need for salvation. He lives in every Christian from the moment they trust in Jesus Christ, providing them with power for service, understanding of spiritual truth and comfort in life trials.
Ephesians 1:13 & 14; Romans 8:9; John 14:16 & 26; John 15:26; 1 Corinthians 12:12 & 13; 2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16: 7-14.
4) We believe the Bible is the work of God by inspiration through His Spirit by human writers. Scripture and all its parts, down to the very words of the original were given by Divine inspiration. The whole of Scripture therefore is inerrant. It is the only Word of God and is the supreme and final authority for Christian beliefs and living.
2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; Psalm 119:105, 160; Psalm 12:6
5) We believe that man is made in the image of God. Every human personality is uniquely created, and is worthy of dignity, respect and Christian love. Man was created to be in a relationship with God but was separated from God through disobedience. As a result, man cannot attain a right relationship with God through his own effort.
Genesis 1:26-28; Genesis 2:7; Genesis 2:18-22; Psalm 139:13-14; Matthew 22:37-29; Genesis 3:1-6; Romans 1:18-32; Romans 3:10-12, 23; Romans 7:14-25
6) We believe that all men have sinned and fallen short of God's perfect standard. The penalty for sin is eternal death and separation from God. However, God loved us so much, that He gave us His only Son Jesus Christ to pay the penalty for us on the cross. Because Jesus was sinless, death had no power over Him. He defeated death in His resurrection so that we could have life. He was the only one who could pay the price for the sin of all mankind and restore us to a relationship with God. The only way to be cleansed from sin is to repent, put our faith in Jesus Christ and receive God's forgiveness. This is called being ”born again” Such salvation and it's hope of eternal life, is entirely apart from good works, baptism, church membership or man’s efforts and is of pure grace.
Ephesians 2:8, 9; Titus 3:5; John 3:1-18; Rom 3:23; 6:23; John 3:16-18; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 2:14; 1 Corinthians 15:54-56; Isaiah 53:5-6; 2 Corinthians 5:17-18;1 Peter 1:18-19; Isaiah 55:7; John 1:12; 5:24; Acts 2:21; 4:12; 16:30-31; Revelation 3:20; Romans 5:6
7) We believe that a believer is eternally secure, that he cannot lose his salvation, but that sin may interrupt the joy of his fellowship with God and bring the loving discipline of his Heavenly Father.
John 10:27-30; Romans 8: 31-38; Ephesians 1:13-14
